Beijing, April 13 (IANS). Chinese President Xi Jinping will soon begin a state journey to Vietnam, Malaysia and Cambodia. On the eve, China Global Television Network (CGTN), subordinate to the China Media Group (CMG), held a special dialogue on the topic “Power-China and Asean” in Kuala Lumpur on April 11 with Chinese Education Association of Malaysia and Tunku Abdul Rahman University. He agreed that this visit would promote economic and business collaboration and cultural exchange between China and Asean countries, further support between China and Asean in green technology and railroad infrastructure, and will also help the ‘global South’ countries to unite closer. In his video speech, Malaysian Transport Minister Anthony Lok Seu Fuke said that China and Asean are now nearby and have been exchanging between them since ancient times. Both sides continually deepened the collaboration in areas such as trade and culture. The “Belt and Road” initiative, in particular, provided a comprehensive platform and location in areas such as the connectivity of the infrastructure and economic and business cooperation for both sides, giving people from both countries concrete benefits. He emphasized that President Xi Jinping’s upcoming visit to Southeast Asia is not only related to the future of the relationship between China-Malaysia, but that it will also have a significant influence on ASEAN and the world. The international community hopes that China will continue its openness, stand on the multilateral trading system and will continue to work as a reliable world partner. At the same time, the chairman of the Asia-Pacific “Belt and Road” strategy committee and former Malaysian Transport Minister Ong Tea Pest, of the opinion, that China-Easean relations are a successful example of multilateral cooperation and regional economic integration, and it is also a historical achievement of China’s neighboring diplomacy. Currently, Asean is entering a new phase of sustainable development. The ‘Global Development Initiative’ proposed by President Xi Jinping has opened new opportunities for collaboration with sustainable development between the two parties. Ong Tea Insect also said that ASEAN countries face serious challenges, such as poverty, climate change and food security, while China has a significant increase in aspects such as technology, capital and talent. Both sides can deepen cooperation in the field of non-traditional security. He believes that the future should be more active in building a ‘shared future China-Easean community’, which increases mutual trust between the two sides and gaining long-term and widespread collaboration in a complex geo-political environment. More than 120 students from different countries also participated in this dialogue. Since President Xi Jinping’s Southeast Asian tour is about to start, this dialogue offers young students a valuable opportunity to gain a profound understanding of China.
