PADMA AWARDS 2025 acknowledged 139 individuals for their exceptional contributions on different fields. Striking awards include actor S. Ajith Kumar, singer Pankaj Udhas, and cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin. These awards celebrate excellence in the arts, sports, politics and more. President Droupadi Murmu, Vice -President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Minister of Home Affairs, Amit Shah, and other dignitaries pose for a group photo with Padma Vibhushan and Padma Bhushan Awards at Rashtrapati Bhavan during the Padma -Nawkeremon. Outstanding contributions on fields such as arts, literature, sports, social service, public affairs and more. The awards are hosted by the President of India, and are awarded during a ceremonial function at Rashtrapati Bhavan, which is usually held every year or April. For 2025, the president approved the conference of 139 Padma Awards. The awards are awarded in three categories: Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri. The Padma Awards recognize and celebrate the remarkable efforts of individuals whose work has brought national and global recognition to India. Padma Vibhushan: Dr. DUVVUR NAGESHWAR REDDY – A well -known gastro -centerologist from Telangana, Dr. Reddy recognizes for his pioneering contributions in the field of medical research and his significant work in the treatment of gas -intestinal diseases. Dr Lakshminarayana Subramaniam – A celebrated violin of Karnataka, Lakshminarayana Subramaniam, is honored for his special contribution to Indian classical music and international praise. Shri Mt Vasudevan Nair (posthumously) – a highly respected Malayaler of Kerala, Mt Vasudevan Nair, is known for his literary works that deeply formed Indian literature and culture. Shri Osamu Suzuki (posthumous) – Former chairman of Suzuki Motor Corporation, Osamu Suzuki, is posthumously honored for his revolutionary work in the automotive industry, which has helped transform the global market. Padma Bhushan: Shri S. Ajith Kumar-a celebrated actor in the Tamil film industry, is honored S. Ajith Kumar for his excellent contributions to the Indian film, especially in the Tamil film industry, where he was an important box office. Shri. Pankaj Udhas – Pankaj Udhas, one of the most iconic Ghazal singers in India, is recognized for his influence on the music industry and his contribution to the preservation of the classical art form of Ghazals alive. Shri A. Surya Prakash – Surya Prakash, who awarded the Padma Bhushan in the literature and education category, is a prominent journalist and academic, known for his pioneering contributions to journalism in Karnataka. Shri Anant Night – Anant Night, a highly regarded figure in art, was honored with the Padma Bhushan for his exceptional work in the Indian film industry, especially in the Kannada Theater. Shri Jose Chacko Perioppuram – Jose Chacko Periapuram, who awarded the Padma Bhushan in medicine, is a leading expert in healthcare, known for his important contributions to the medical field, especially in Kerala. Other prominent awards include Shri Bibek Debroy, Sadhvi Ritambhara and Shobana Chandrakumar. Padma Shri: The Padma Shri category contains 113 recipients who made significant contributions in their respective fields. Some of the prominent awards from this category include: Shri Arijit Singh -a Western Bengal singer, Arijit Singh, is celebrated for his soulful voice and his tremendous contribution to the Bollywood music industry. Shri Harvinder Singh – A cricketer from Haryana, Harvinder Singh is honored for his constant contributions to Indian cricket, especially in domestic cricket. Shri Ravichandran Ashwin – Ravichandran Ashwin, a leading cricketer, is celebrated for his achievements in international cricket, especially as one of the best spinners in the history of the game. Shri Ricky Kej – An environmental music composer, Ricky Kej is recognized for the use of music to promote environmental awareness and to get international attention successfully for his efforts. Shri Tushar Durgeshbhai Shukla-A prominent Gujarati-poet, writer and media personality-was honored with the Padma Shri for his important contributions to Gujarati literature and education. Shri Syed Ainul Hasan – a prominent scholar and the current vice -chancellor of Maulana Azad National Uldu University (Manuu) in Hyderabad. With more than three decades of experience in teaching and research, he contributed significantly to the Indo-Iran and Indo-Afghan relationships. Shri Ganeshwar Shastri Dravid – A Vedic scholar, awarded for his exceptional work in the preservation and promotion of ancient Vedic texts. Other prominent awards include SMT. Jumde Yomgam Gamlin, smt. K Omanakutty Amma, Shri Mahabir Nayak, SMT. Nirmala Devi, Shri Pawan Goenka, among many others. This year’s Padma Awards reflect India’s rich cultural and professional diversity and honor those who have made remarkable contributions on all spheres of life.
