Viral attack. With all the talk in the media about the latest corona virus .....
With all the talk and panic surrounding the current CoronaVirus outbreak I felt a quick post would be in order to let you know you can take back control.
Even if the media has got you in a panic, or you are wanting to get hold of the latest vaccine because you have been told this is “the only way” we will survive, I urge you to STOP!!
Yes, STOP!! – we have an immune system that has been battling viruses throughout the ages, and it will continue to do so if we FEED IT THE RIGHT STUFF.
Many people have compromised immune systems due to a number of reasons:
Poor diet
Poor Lifestyle
Unhygienic conditions/habits
Exposure to toxins
Nutrient deficiencies
The good thing is that we can do many things to help our own amazing body, eat better, sleep better, think better, exercise better – all of these things can help, and in addition, if we target specific nutrients we can do even more to power up our immune system to deal with virtually anything we may be exposed to, but get onto it quickly and hit it hard.
My Top Picks.
Vitamin C – Don’t be afraid of increasing your daily intake if needed, consider divided doses through the day totalling 3000mg or more, remember the intake of Vitamin C needed will relate to how much work your system is doing, if it will tolerate more or needs more, give it more.
Vitamin D – Depending on where you are on the planet, this could be critical and if your body needs a top up consider around 2000-5000 IU daily for a couple of weeks, lowering after this time to a maintenance dose of 1000-2000 IU daily
NB: For some people I suggest a tried and tested source of Vit D such as cod liver oil or halibut oil as these have both Vit A and D(Vitamin A is also another anti-viral element)
Magnesium – By now you should all know how critical magnesium is for your energy levels – well it’s the same for your cells, they burn through energy when fighting an invader and we also know magnesium is critical in hundreds of actions within your body.
Zinc – Another critical nutrient for our immune system and one that many people, both young and old struggle with getting enough. I like to get a dose of 15-20mg(or even more briefly if there is something acute happening) into someone initially and dropping back after a while when appropriate.
Selenium – We don’t need much selenium, but if we don’t get it, we are compromising the immune system, so be diligent and top it up with 100mcg daily or something near to it.
These are my “go to” products and are the basics when it comes to straight forward nutrition that will support a healthy immune system.
If I want to go into battle then I tend to prefer something quick with a punch and that would include Oregano Oil or a product like Dr Wilson’s Body-Guard.
