‘The Legacy of Ida and Frankie: Girls of Shade and Civic

The legacies of Ida B. Wells and J. Frankie Pierce and their battle for suffrage for Black ladies would be the matter of a panel dialogue on Friday, Sept. 18.

The panel will discover how Wells’ and Pierce’s life’s work contributed to the battle for girls’s suffrage and the way their legacies inform Black ladies and civic engagement in our communities in the present day.

The panel will embody:

• Sen. Raumesh Akbari, Tennessee State Senate, District 29
• Juliana Ospina Cano, govt director, Conexión Américas
• Sabina Mohyuddin, govt director, American Muslim Advisory Council
• Charlane Oliver, co-founder and co-executive director, The Fairness Alliance

Andrea Blackman, director of Particular Collections, Nashville Public Library, will function moderator.
