Royal news : From SNIFFING food to eating half your partner's... 3 ways to lose weight fast

NO matter how much you’re committed to losing body fat, there are certain things that can derail your progress no matter how hard you try to resist.  Parties get in the way, your partner cooks you a massive fry up and everywhere you go, you can smell cheese.  What can you do?  Well, there are actually a few tips which can help you to stay on track – or at least minimise how far you fall off the wagon.  Weight loss is simply about creating a calorie deficit: consuming less than you burn. But that’s not always easy to do in practice.  So here are three hacks for killing cravings: 1. Smell your food for two minutes  There’s nothing like walking past a Greggs to make you start craving a pasty.  So it might sound unlikely that giving food a good sniff will actually reduce your cravings.  Healthista reports that while smelling fatty foods for less than 30 seconds can make you desperate to chow down on a pizza or burger.  But new research claims that if you surround yourself with the smell for two whole minutes, your cravings will subside.  Dr Dipayan Biswas from the University of South Florida College of Business found that when people were exposed to the smell of cookies for less than half a minute, they were more likely to want a cookie.  But those who had to smell cookies for over two minutes no longer found the idea of cookies desirable and opted to eat strawberries instead.  He found similar results when he tested people with pizza and apples.  The study concluded by saying that because most non-indulgent foods don’t give off a smell, we don’t tend to connect them reward and therefore don’t influence what foods we eat.  Scientists believe that this finding may lead to the creation of greasy food-scented room sprays that’ll encourage people to eat more healthily.  So if you are craving a takeaway tonight after walking past McDonald’s, drink in the smell for a couple of minutes and see if all that grease puts you off. 2. Only serve part of your normal meal  Do you eat all the “right” sorts of food and still struggle to lose weight?  Well it could be that your portion control is out of whack.  One easy tip is to half your normal meal, put half of it back into the fridge and enjoy – slowly – what’s in front of you.  An hour later, see how you feel. Are you still hungry? If so, have a healthy snack or have the rest of the other half.  But a meal that’s actually the right size should keep hunger at bay for up to four hours.  Having more, smaller meals is easier on the digestive system and gets you to really appreciate and think about what it is you’re eating.  And let’s be honest, most of eat quickly without stopping to question how hungry we are, or how much we’re enjoying what we’re eating. 3. Eat half as much as your partner  It’s fact that most people put on weight when they’re in a relationship.  But it’s not just because some of us relax more aboutt and exercise when we’re feeling settled.  It’s incredibly tempting to divvy up meals and s
