ORGANIC VS. CONVENTIONAL FOOD || can fruits and vegetables be dangerous? || ABOUT HEALTH
Why do we need to buy organic food? Are not all fruits and vegetables always healthy? Are some foods safer to eat than others?
To answer these and more questions I would say:
Lets talk about conventional produce vs. organic!
Organic produce is not sprayed with pesticides or treated with any chemicals and also not grown from a genetically modified seeds!
Additional organic food is more lets call it „stressed“ and stressed food has more nutritional value! When plants have to naturally fight and defend themselves from harsh conditions like water, nutrients deficiencies and injuries they produce more phytochemical and antioxidants. These biologically active compounds are essential for optimal health and fighting diseases.
Conventional food on the other hand is filled with pesticides and therefore extremely poisonous and toxic to our body. It can cause life threatening illnesses such as cancer, diabetes, heart diseases, allergies, crohn’s disease, skin diseases, leaky gut syndrome and a dysfunction of the endocrine system.
However I know organic fruit and vegetables are not alway affordable, and practical due to the time of the season. Therefore I have made two lists for you one with the highly sprayed and minimal sprayed fruits and vegetables, because some plants need more pesticides than others to grow faster.
The one with the most pesticides are: spinach, strawberries, nectarines, Apples, celery, tomatoes, cucumbers, grapes, cherries, peaches, potatoes, blueberries, sweet bell peppers, green beans, kale and all greens. They are highly sprayed, so I would always try to buy those organic.
The fruits and vegetables with the fewest pesticides are: avocado, pineapple, cabbage, mango, papaya, sweet peas, eggplant, cauliflower, broccoli, asparagus, kiwi, grapefruit, sweet potatoes, melon, onions, sweet corn.
When you still can’t buy organic for any reason you can use this simple cleaning technique on conventional produce:
Put a couple Tablespoons of apple cider vinegar or any vinegar in a bowl and fill it with warm water, than soak your fruits or vegetables for a few minutes (so that the waxy resin gets remove).
In the end I also want to mention that the quality of the organic certified food varies so that organic does not necessarily means 100% pesticides free, but it safely insures that synthetic chemicals and GMOs are not used!
