Eight new endowed chair holders honored | Vanderbilt Information

Vanderbilt’s eight latest endowed chair holders have been acknowledged by Interim Chancellor and Provost Susan R. Wente, deans, colleagues, members of the family and donors Sept. 16 on the Pupil Life Heart.

Wente famous in her opening remarks that endowed chairs guarantee Vanderbilt can appeal to and retain extraordinary students throughout all disciplines.

“Our honorees, fashions of excellence of their educating and analysis, proceed to differentiate themselves as leaders and pioneers of their fields,” Wente stated. “They embrace a spirit of collaborative tradition and function excellent mentors in many various areas of our Vanderbilt neighborhood.”

Wente expressed gratitude to the college’s visionary philanthropic companions, whose assist make the endowed chairs doable.

A complete of 299 chair holders have been honored since Chancellor Emeritus Nicholas S. Zeppos introduced an initiative in August 2010 to recruit and retain excellent students and lecturers via endowed chairs.
