Artificial Intelligence Colloquium: Software-Defined Hardware
Speaker: Mr. Wade Shen, Program Manager, DARPA / Information Innovation Office
Today, system developers turn to application specific integrated circuits (ASICs) to maximize the runtime efficiency of a specific algorithm. While effective, ASICs are costly and time consuming to create, and are limited in the type of computations they can perform. This talk will expound on the work DARPA is doing to build runtime-reconfigurable hardware that enables near-ASIC performance without sacrificing programmability for data-intensive algorithms, such as machine learning and big data analytics.
