In this video I was adjusting DIC microscopy on a Tardigrade, a microscopic “water bear.” These creatures are tough, but nothing is immortal. The pressure from the slide preparation causes this microbial eukaryote to burst, similar to my previous ciliate video. Observing contents of microbes can be equally interesting, and a good reminder for the fragility of life. If anyone finds a single Tardigrade death sad, then consider what one can do to not pollute and destroy the environment… Sample from a freshwater Florida spring under 200x DIC microscopy. #tardigrade #waterbear #death #microbe #micro #sciart #algae #bear #pop #burst #oops #claws #microbiology #ecology #animal #wildlife #alien #microscopy #florida #science #foodchain
