Video: What is fluoride

Under the sponsorship of the video text, you may wonder if it is good or bad to add fluoride to drinking water or dental care. You are not the only one wondering. The long time ago, healthcare professionals and even local politicians discussed the benefits and damages of fluoride. So why all these discussions? Here is a quick overview of the different views of the great debate over fluoride. First, what is fluoride exactly and why it is used to improve oral and dental health? Fluoride is a natural element in much food, soil and water. In our bodies, it has a unique ability to attract calcium, which is the basic building block in building bones and teeth. It helps keep teeth free of cavities and decay by strengthening the surface of the tooth by rebuilding minerals in the enamel of the teeth, which loses its power during the normal life cycle. For this reason, fluoride factories contribute their products such as mouthwash and toothpaste, and municipalities add fluoride to the local water supply. According to the American Dental Association, the addition of fluoride has worked by the authorities responsible for the water supply to reduce the prevalence of US citizens by about 50 to 60 percent in the last sixty years. But opponents contribute to the addition of fluoride that these statistics are not surprising as they look at first glance. Where a recent analytical study showed that the percentage of tooth decay fell by about 18 to 40 percent in societies that did not use water to which fluoride was added in the same period. What is the reason? Increased use of toothpastes added to fluoride and increased use of bottled water. People who are opposed to the addition of fluoride to drinking water say that people have already consumed a lot of fluoride due to the increase in the products containing fluoride. Opponents are especially harmful to children. Although topical fluoride is the most effective products to stop tooth decay at adults, eating a high concentration of fluoride in children, especially for eight or less, can actually lead to a condition called fluorine poisoning.
