Assam Crime: Woman killed on the suspicion of witchcraft, the court sentenced 23 people to life imprisonment - Assam 23 Jaild for Life in Witchcraft Killing Case

On Monday, a court in the Charidev district of Assam sentenced 23 people to life imprisonment in connection with the murder of a woman on the suspicion of witchcraft 13 years ago. The culprits were decided by the family of the victim, the district of Charyadev and Sessions, Abubkal Siddiqui, and convicted 12 men and 11 women for committing crimes. He was sentenced to life imprisonment, as well as a fine of Rs 5,000 on each. The court also ordered the convicts to pay the remuneration of Rs 8 Lakh to the victim’s family. People tortured the victim serious physical torture. The incident in 2012 caused widespread resentment, and as a result, there was a long trial for 13 years. Police said the victim was suspected of a group of witchcraft by a group of people in the Jaladeva village of Charadeva and eventually set fire to it.
