Value has in depth expertise engaged on school and athletics coverage points. She is a former vice-chair of the College Senate and a three-term former senator. She not too long ago served as a member of the College Senate Activity Drive on Athletics and served on the search committee to determine Turner as athletic director.

The committee is charged with:

  • offering periodic recommendation and counsel to school leaders on points associated to varsity athletics;
  • aiding with the design and refinement of insurance policies on the intersection of educational and athletic issues;
  • aiding with the institution of insurance policies and pointers to facilitate student-athlete recruitment and integration into the college group;
  • monitoring and reviewing tendencies in student-athlete tutorial points, together with majors, course clustering, commencement charges, retention and school advisers;
  • assessing providers linked to tutorial points which are offered to student-athletes, akin to tutoring and psychological well being and wellness.

This committee, which replaces the College Committee on Athletics, can be comprised completely of school apart from Turner.

Wente, interim chancellor and provost. “We call this dedication to excellence in both athletics and scholarship ‘The Vanderbilt Way.’ A Faculty Senate task force recently made a set of recommendations that our new faculty athletics representative, Dr. Ann Price, is acting on. Building on this, and using an inclusive approach as our guide, the university will now undertake a broad examination of the path forward for ensuring continued and further success for our student-athletes and athletics programs.”

The planning process, which began this spring and is being led by Malcolm Turner, vice chancellor for athletics and university affairs and athletics director, has involved conversations and meetings with student-athletes, coaches and staff, students, faculty, alumni and fans, as well as an examination of best practices nationally. Athletics is partnering with the international consulting firm Deloitte to create the strategic roadmap, which will guide future planning and investment decisions around Commodore athletics.

Turner said the plan will examine ways to strengthen Vanderbilt Athletics programs, explore facility needs and fundraising priorities, and identify new approaches to improve the fan experience and better engage fans.
