New York legislature Zohran Mamdani, the suspected democratic nominee for New York Mayor, condemned President Donald Trump’s threats on Tuesday (July 1) and called them an attack on democracy. “His statements not only represent an attack on our democracy, but an attempt to send a message to every New Yorker who refuses to hide in the shadows: If you speak, they will come to you. We will not accept this intimidation,” Mamdani said shortly after Trump’s comments. Trump is threatening arrest and financing of cuts that opened at the pass earlier “Alligator Alcatraz” migrant relief center in the Florida Everglades, Trump warned that Mamdani would resist if he resisted federal immigration. “Now, we’ll have to arrest him,” Trump declared when asked about Mamdani’s promise to “stop masked ice agents to deport our neighbors.” The president went further and labeled Mamdani a ‘Communist’, a claim he had repeated for weeks. “Look, we don’t need a communist in this country, but if we have one, I’m going to watch closely on behalf of the country,” Trump said. Trump also revived unfounded allegations about Mamdani’s citizenship status: “Many people say he is here illegally,” Trump argued. “We’re going to look at everything. Ideally, he will be much less than a communist. But right now he is a communist. It’s not a socialist. ‘ Earlier Tuesday, when he left the White House, Trump told reporters: “I think I will have a lot of fun, look at him, because he has to get through this building to get his money.” He also threatened to withhold federal funding from New York if Mamdani did not do the right thing. “I’m not a communist” in an interview about NBC, Mamdani rejected Trump’s labeling. “I’m not,” he said when asked if he was a communist. “I had to start getting used to the president talking about what I looked like, how I sound, where I came from, who I am. Finally because he wants to deduce from what I fight for. And I fight for the many working people that he is campaigning to empower that he has since betrayed. ” Primary results and elections in November The New York City Board of Elections released the updated selected results on Tuesday in which Mamdani holds a former governor Andrew Cuomo-56% to 44% in the Democratic Primary Governor. Current Mayor Eric Adams plans to work as an independent. The Mayor’s New York election is scheduled for November 4th.
