Odisha: Minister Suryavanshi Suraj held an important meeting with a view to improving in higher education
Bhubaneswar, April 15 (IANS). The Odisha government has taken important steps to empower higher education. A high -level meeting was held under the chairmanship of Higher Education Minister Suryavanshi Suraj, with vice -chancellors of 17 state universities, chairman of the PG councils, Registrar and Deputy Registrar. The agenda of the meeting focused on the implementation of new law with the aim of restoring the autonomy of the University and increasing transparency in administrative and recruitment processes. The meeting was held a day after the amended Higher Education Bill was approved by the Odisha Lawyer Assembly, approving the Governor. The bill has introduced 59 progressive divisions, which aim to enable state universities to work with foreign universities and industries, making the educational environment of the industry for students for students. Minister Suryavanshi Suraj spoke to the media, said: “It is our duty to give universities autonomy. The previous Biju Janata Dal government has controlled them because students, intellectuals and teachers protested. We have committed to restoring autonomy and to restructure the university.” Suraj also emphasized the importance of coordination with the National Education Policy (NEP) and discussed its complete implementation during the meeting. In addition, the government has announced a new initiative to support 200 students under the poverty line by offering free UPSC coaching along with housing and food.
