He police on tuesday recaptured one of seven inmates who broke through the wall of a penitentiary in sorong, Southwest Papua, last week, identifying him as the mastermind behind the jailbreak.

The inmate, identified as Akmal Ohorela, was arrested in a residential area in the city following a tip-off that at least two out of seven escapees were hiding there, said Sorong Police Chief Sr. Comr. Happy Perdana Yudianto.

“But only one was there, and we immediately arrested him,” Happy said as quoted by Antara, adding that the house owner initially denied akmal’s presence in the house.

Akmal was then taken to sorong penitentiary for questioning and to continue serving his sentence.

Penitentiary Warden Manuel Yenusi Told Reporters on Tuesday that akmal was “the one who broke through the prison wall, allowing fellow inmates to escape”, as reported by compass.com.

Besides akmal, a detainee hero on car vehicle theft charges named Adam rematobi also played a role as the other mastermind behind the jailbreak.
