Award to the University of Hisar for Moon Research
Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (HAU) received the best center for excellent work in Moon Research by All India Coooordinated Research Project (AICRP) under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). The award was received by Dr. Rajesh Yadav, head of the Pulse division at the annual group meeting of AICRP held in Sknau, Rari, Durgapura-Jaipur. Vice -Chancellor -Professor Br Kambooj congratulated the university team and credited this achievement to the unwavering commitment of his scientists. He said that the award recognizes HAU’s significant contribution in the development of Moong varieties and related technologies. To date, the university has released nine high yields, immunity and high quality moon varieties. Dr. Sk Pahuja, Dean of the Agricultural College, emphasized that three large types of Moon have been developed in the last five years -MH 1142, MH 1762 and MH 1772. Of this, MH 421 was the longest effect, which promoted a lot of the Moon, especially in Rajashan, where there is half the country’s moon production. From 2017 to 2020, MH 421 was cultivated in approximately 20-25 percent of the Moon -growing areas across India, increasing total productivity. After MH 421, the MH 1142 variety was released in 2020 and has emerged as the most cultivated Moon variety in the country over the past two years. The most recent species, MH 1762, which will be introduced in 2024, is also gaining rapid popularity, especially in Rajasthan, where this variety of demands is constantly increasing.
