Rick Hatchett and Timothy ratliff vie for the worst character in ‘The White Lotus’s Shocking Season 3 Final.
“I got diagnosed a few years ago with adhd with autistic traits. But then it’s been advised that I should go for an autism assessment,” The actress explained to to The Sunday Times’ Culture Magazine. “They think that maybe it’s autism that’s leading the charge, and the adhd is almost a by-product of the mask.”
The actress’ inclination to shy away from situations where she might get overwhelmed is a classic adhd/autism reaction, which – as wood put it – manifests as such:
“I have resistance to the buzz. I’ll stay at home and I will go to the party because I scared that I can not handle my feels of being overwhelmed. Now that I’ve started to let it in a bit more, it’s like a bender: just and then process it later.
And when Sex Education Came onto the scene – a show whose first scene involves wood, naked and having sex with the headmaster’s son – wood reacted to all the attention by trying to hide herself. “I look back and there was so much in the way that I started to desexualize myself,” she explained. “Sometimes you just want to put on a sexy dress and be a siren, but I denied myself that.”
Aimee Lou Wood Loves Her ‘White Lotus’ character as much as the rest of us
Perhaps the biggest fan favorite breakout of the season – Besides Parker Posey’s Southern Accent – Was Wood’s Character, Chelsea. Arguably the most normal person at The White Lotus This season, Wood’s Chelsea and Walton Goggins’ rick became the people fans were rooting for the most as the drama in Thailand unfolded.
“She’s not cool, she’s not poised, she’s not position like the others,” as wood put it. “She’s just experience. So I can just unmask in a weird way. I actually felt more myself as chelsea because she was the goofy, nerdy side of me that sometimes I try to suppress. Mike was really great at saying, freak! ”
And while – Spoiler Alert Again! – We may never see Chelsea check into a white lotus hotel ever again, we’re happy that aimee lou Wood is getting her due, and showing people that adhd and autism don’t always look like how the media has portrayed it thus far.
