Amid the ongoing debate on the 90-hour work week, Union Minister the Union Minister of Union on Wednesday said there was no substitute for hard work, and added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi set a very good example. Vaishnaw made the remark while talking during a summit hosted by Broadcaster News18. The Union Minister was asked what his staff thinks about the idea of 90 hours a week. To which the minister quickly replied and told them to ask the staff. However, when Vaishnaw was asked about his approach, Vaishnaw said: “Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi set a very good example. He works very hard. If we have to take our country to a totally new level, there is no other choice but … and that’s a personal choice.” ‘Every one, every business, every organization must make their choices. For me, there is no substitute for hard work, ‘the minister added. The debate on the balance of work life reconsidered a few months ago after the chairman of the L&T chairman SN Subhanyan’s views criticized his remarks. For that, Narayana Murthy, co -founder of Infosys, proposed a 70 -hour work week. In the viral video, Subhanyan suggested that employees should even give up on Sundays and ask, “How long can you stare at your wife.” “I’m regret that I can’t make you work on Sundays. If I can make you work on Sundays, I will be more happy because I work on Sundays. What are you doing at home? How long can you stare at your wife? How long can the women stare at their husbands? Come, come to the office and start working, ‘he added. Earlier in January, in an interview with PTI, after the drive over the comment from the L&T chief, ITC Ltd chairman Sanjiv Puri said it was more important that the workers were in line with the larger vision of the business rather than the number of working hours. Earlier in December 2024, the chairman of Adani Group Gautam Adani had remarks, “Biwi Bhague Jayegi (wife will run away)” if someone spent more than eight hours at home. “Your idea of work and life balance should not be imposed on me and my idea should not be imposed on you. Say, someone spends four hours with the family and finds joy in it, or if someone else spends 8 hours and enjoys it, it is their balance between work and life,” he said.
