Psoriasis is a long -term (chronic) skin problem that causes skin cells to grow very quickly, causing thick, silver or red areas in the skin. Usually dry skin cells, turn into crumbs and fall every four weeks or so. New skin cells grow to replace the outer layer of the skin. But in psoriasis, new skin cells move quickly to the skin surface within days instead of weeks. They collect and form solid spots called layers. These layers vary in their size, including small and large. It often appears on the knees, elbows, scalp, hands, legs or lower back. Psoriasis spreads especially in adults, but also children and adolescents can develop it.
