Wang Yi met Russian Foreign Minister

Beijing, April 29 (IANS). Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In this meeting, the two leaders discussed further strengthening of mutual relations and increased the cooperation on the global stage. Wang Yi said there have been many changes in global circumstances over the past few years, but mutual trust and cooperation between China and Russia is unchanged. He said that in the changing era there is deep faith and cooperation between China and Russia, a symbol of stability and continuity. The strategic leadership of Chinese President XI Chinfing and Russian President Vladimir Putin is the groundstone to maintain the relationship between the two countries at a high level. Wang Yi insisted that the two countries work together to transform the important agreements of their leaders into concrete results so that collaboration can be deepened in different areas. Referring to the global challenges, he said that today there is an increasing tension between unilateral and multilateral forces in the world. The competition against maintaining purity and its contrast is clear worldwide. In such a situation, the strategic importance of unity and cooperation between Brics countries has increased more than ever. As the founding members of the Brics, China and Russia must further strengthen the coordination within this platform. Not only will it increase the solidarity between developing countries and emerging economies, but it will also be greater. At the same time, Russian Secretary of State Lavarov said it is very important for Russia and China to maintain close contacts under rapidly changing world conditions. He said that Russia, along with China, is ready to organize a memorial activities on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Soviet Union’s big victory in the Patriotic War and the 80th anniversary of the Japanese attack against the Japanese invasion. The two countries will remember their historical contribution through these events and strengthen mutual cooperation. Lavarov also discussed the Ukraine crisis and reiterated that Russia is ready for peace talks with Ukraine without any condition.
