Turkey cracks on the magazine about the alleged prophet mark | Today news

(Bloomberg) – Turkey has detained four employees of a satirical magazine, including a draftsman accused of portraying the prophet Muhammad because the government reinforces his oppression of division. The cartoon, published in Leman on June 26, drew protests by Islamic fundamentalist groups out of the office of Istanbul late Monday. Demonstrators threw stones and sang slogans in which he appealed to Sharia legislation. The illustration, which Leman denied, was a caricature of the prophet, showing two winged figures above a warring city. “Peace to you, I’m Muhammad,” says one. The other replies: “Peace with you, I am Musa,” use the Arabic name for Moses. The authorities have ordered the issue to be removed from the circulation. Depictions of the Prophet Muhammad are considered deeply abusive by many Muslims, who regard any visual representation of him as blasphemous. Government officials and pro-government media depicted the cartoon as an insult. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan condemned it as a ‘provocation’ and promised legal action. The incident comes amid increasing criticism of President Erdogan’s Islamic rooted AK party to tighten its grip on the media, push users on social media and to quiet diverse votes. Opposition -politicians, journalists, YouTubers and actors have been jailed in recent months, while the LGBTQ community has been increasingly destroyed in the rhetoric of officials.
