BJP's claim that Himachal government does not work with the center on railway projects
Mukesh Agnihotri, Deputy Head Minister of Himachal Pradesh, surrounded the BJP over allegations that he did not work with the central government on railway projects and said that the state’s opposition leaders deliver unfounded statements about the continued railway projects in Himachal Pradesh. He said: “The approach of the state government is clear. We are working with the central government on the development of the state above political differences. These railway projects are extremely important for the economic, social and tourism development of Himachal. It will not only help to connect remote areas of the country with other parts of the country, but also from national security and strategic vision.” Agnihotri said that for a hilly and special category such as Himachal is just as important as road and air connection. He said: “The priority of the state government is to complete the Bhanupalli-Bilaspur-Beri railway, Chandigarh-Baddi railway and Nangal-Talwara railway projects on time.” The state government not only made financial contribution to these projects, but also played an active role in completing land acquisition, administrative approval and other necessary formalities. He informed that the state government has so far contributed £ 847 as part of the state for the construction of the Bhanupalli-Bilaspur-Beri railway. He further informed that the work of this railway line is underway and that this work is expected to be completed by 31 December 2027. He said the implementation of this project was delayed, and the project costs given by the Track Vikas Nigam Limited increased by 6.45 times to £ 6,753.42 crore. Now, the state’s share has increased to £ 2,583.01 crore, including the cost of land acquisition of £ 1,210.42 crore. The state government must therefore spend 38.84% of the total project costs. The chief minister said the work of the Chandigarh-Badi Railway Line project is underway. The project was declared a special railway project by the Government of India. A target has been set to complete the work of this railway by April 30, 2026. He informed that most of the Nangal-Talwara railway was completed and that it was opened to traffic from Nangal to Daulatpur Chowk. The central government exports the total cost of this project, in which the state government also played a supporting role. Share this story -tags
