Tractor driver collides in the shop in Dhenkanal, Odisha, young man dies

Dhenkanal, April 17 (IANS). One person died Thursday in an accident in the Jawahar intersection in the Dhenkanal district Odisha. A tractor driver lost control of the car and hit a store along the way. The tractor driver is reportedly intoxicated by alcohol. In this accident, a young man died on the spot, while the store caused great damage. After the incident, outrage spread among the locals, which was blocked and severely affected by the main road. The deceased was identified as Hrithik Tanna, a resident of Mena Bazaar and used to run a fast food shop in the Lakshmi Bazar Supermarket. According to eyewitnesses, Hrithik bought potatoes at the store when the uncontrolled tractor hit the store. Hrithik died on the spot after the tractor came under the wheel. The store suffered a lot of damage in the accident. However, the shop owner survived safely. Local people said the tractor driver was in a state of intoxication. Evil people caught the driver shortly after the accident and handed him over to the police. Police seized the tractor and registered a case against the driver and began the investigation. Initial inquiry revealed the driver’s negligence and drunken driving management. After the incident, the tension in Jawahar Chowk area spread. Local residents and traders started protests by blocking the road. The protesters demanded strict action against the drunken vehicles and proper compensation to the family of the deceased. Due to the riot of the people, there was a long jam on the road, causing passengers and local people to have many problems. Police and administration acted quickly and tried to calm the protesters. To control the situation, the police provided a remuneration of Rs 20,000 of the Red Cross to the family of the deceased.
