Pakistan welcomed ITF's decision on Davis Cup match against India
Lahore, December 24 (IANS) The Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) expressed happiness after the International Tennis Federation (ITF) answered to Pakistan to host the upcoming Davis Cup match against India. According to the report of the news agency Xinhua, the ITF decision came earlier after the appeal of the All India Tennis Association (Aita) against the initial decision. The Aita calls concerns about the general election in Pakistan to be held on February 8, 2024, but the ITF’s independent tribunal considered concern as unfounded. The ITF said in its official announcement: “After a careful review, the tribunal determined that the reasons offered do not have enough qualifications.” He said that Pakistan has a proven record of the successful presentation of the Major Davis Cup matches and can do so again for this important match. PTF President Salim Saifullah Khan welcomed the news and said: “The decision is an important victory for Pakistani tennis and sports lovers.” The chairman said: “The potential visit of the Indian team will not only be an exciting spectacle for tennis lovers, but will also promote relationships between people and will contribute positively to international sports.” The Davis Cup match is scheduled to place in the Pakistani capital of Islamabad during the first week of February 2024
