JVC 55-inch Qled TV Review: Budget smart TV that gets most things right | Mint
Earlier this year, Japanese electronic manufacturer JVC entered the Indian market via a licensing agreement with Super Plastronics PVT LTD (SPPL) and has since launched a series of smart TVs in partnership with Amazon. I have been using the JVC 55 inch Qled TV recently launched for a few months, and here are my two pieces on how the Japanese company performed with its new offer. UNBOX: Within the box of the JVC TV, you are greeted by a 55-inch Qled panel, a metal stand, a wall confirmation, four screws, a remote control with AAA batteries and a few paperwork. If you do not want to have the TV installed, the metal stand actually looks pretty good and is sturdy enough to easily handle the Qled panel. The same cannot be said for the remote control associated with the TV. It feels cheap and the JVC brand at the bottom came off after a few days of use. I hope JVC improves the shelf life of remote control in the next iteration of TVs. Unlike that, I have not noticed big mistakes, the reaction time is good and voice commands work as expected. There are four hotkeys at the bottom for Amazon Prime Video, YouTube, Netflix and the App Menu. (Unfortunately, there is no option for Jiohotstar). There are very slim edges around the panel, with a plastic chin at the bottom that houses the JVC brand, just below, which is the on / out button to turn the TV on and off if you forgot the remote control. To be honest, I did not have great expectations for the image quality of this TV, but the results were anything but what I expected. The IPS panel on this TV can reproduce sharp and live colors that are pleasant to the eye. Upon closer examination, however, you will see that something is missing in many dark scenes as it is not an OLED panel, but it is something to do at this price point. An area where I think there is room for improvement is the TV’s inability to reproduce human skin colors in certain scenarios, which is not a big problem, but something he can be worked on in the future iterations. The speakers are getting very loud here, and the sound quality is such that you will not really feel the need for an extra sound bar unless you are an audiophile or want to recreate the theater-like surround sounding setup. I found that I was using the TV with a maximum of 30-40 percent volume (which was sufficient for my use case), but to be more than 50 percent volume leads to some distortion. As for the connection, you get 3 HDMI ports and 2 USB 2.0 ports at the back, along with the three pins to include your set-top box or game console. JVC’s TV also comes with Bluetooth version 5.0, Dual-band Wi-Fi and built-in Google Chromecast, which means you can share your smartphone screen content on TV. JVC 55 Inch TV Display JVC 55 Inch TV connectivity Options Software: The JVC 55 Inch Qled TV runs on Android 11 from the box with the latest security spot until September 2024. In my experience, it took about 35-40 seconds for the JVC to start and get to the homepage, which is equal to the course. There are some pre-installed programs such as Hotstar, Jiocinema (yes, this TV was introduced before the merger), Zee5, YouTube and YouTube music, most of which can be removed or disabled if needed. Since it is a proper Android TV, you receive support for the Play Store, which can be used to download additional apps. Sidelot loading programs from a USB also worked well. Although my experience with the TV’s software was largely satisfactory, there was one problem with the Wi-Fi that left a little sour taste in my mouth. That is, on most occasions, I noticed that it would not automatically connect to my Wi-Fi until I went by hand in the Wi-Fi settings, at what point it would start to connect. Another mistake I encountered a few times is that the onion sometimes stops responding while running the Jiohotstar app. It is worth pointing out that these issues are not traders, and JVC/SPPL can easily fix it via an OTA update. Progress: JVC’s 55-inch Qled TV, priced at £ 35999, offers excellent value for money with its impressive screenshot, hard and punchy speakers, stylish design and a wealth of connectivity options. While the TV has some clear defects, such as a cheap building, an outdated Android 11 OS and minor software errors, I feel it does its primary function – to deliver sharp, exciting footage – good enough to be a strong contender in his segment.
