India defeated Thailand 2–1 in the Billy Jean King Tennis Cup. The pair of Srivalli Bhamidipati and Ankita Raina-Sarthna Thumbre won. India will face Hong Kong next.

Pune: India opened its account in the Billy Jean King Tennis Cup with a 2–1 win over Thailand in the group stage. Srivalli Bhamidipati registered a stunning victory for the hosts. Earlier, an experienced couple of Ankita Raina and Prayer Thumbre helped India win here.
Bhamidipati won Lanlana Taraudi of Thailand 6-2, 6-4 in an hour and 15 minutes, leading India a 1-0 lead in the match against Thailand.
In the second match of the day, Sahaja Yamalapalli encountered Mananchaya Savangkev, which was exciting. Both players performed the best tennis against each other. Manchaya won the first set 6-3. Then Sahaja showed tremendous patience and determination and made the second set 7-6 (7-3).
After trailing 0–1 in the final set, the young Indian player unfortunately had to get out of the field, which ended the exciting match for two hours and 23 minutes.
After this, an experienced Indian pair of Ankita and Thombre defeated the Pending Plipuch and Pacharin Chipchajj in the doubles 7-6, 3-6, 10-3 in one hour 55 minutes. India lost 1-2 to New Zealand on Tuesday. India will face Hong Kong in their third match on Thursday.
