Supreme Court Dismisses Please Gujarat Govt Renovation of Sabarmati Ashram | Why are Bapu's piresters against the government planning to make Sabarmati Ashram grooming? Supreme Court also did not listen to application
Supreme Court Sabarmati Ashram : The Supreme Court on Tuesday refused to consider the petition of Tushar Gandhi, a great -grandson of Mahatma Gandhi, which expressed concern over the acquisition of Sabarmati Ashram by the Gujarat government. Justice MM The bench of Sundresh and Rajesh Bindal dismissed the special permission petition challenging the Gujarat High Court’s refusal to cancel the proposal passed by the Gujarat government in March 2021 regarding the widespread development of the Gandhi Ashram monument and the campus.
Supreme Court did not even listen
Tusshar Gandhi in his petition against the Gujarat High Court had argued that the proposed project would change the topography of the ashram. The petition stated that the project allegedly identified more than 40 buildings which will be preserved while the remaining will be destroyed or rebuilt. ‘
The Gujarat High Court settled Gandhi’s petition in 2022 when the government said that the main area of the ashram would not be affected. Sabarmati Ashram is also known as Gandhi Ashram. It was established by Mahatma Gandhi in 1917 in Ahmedabad.
The petition said, ‘Mahatma Gandhi himself designed the ashram, which depicted simplicity, self -sufficiency and community life. The ashram is an example of Gandhian principles of stability and harmony with nature. Sabarmati Ashram is a proof of Mahatma Gandhi’s legacy and his important role in India’s freedom struggle ‘.
The latest special permission petition filed before the Supreme Court said that the Gujarat High Court reconsidered the issue. However, without considering real facts and circumstances, the petitioner’s prayers were rejected. Presently the dignity and purity of the ashram, which symbolically symbolizes the legacy of our Father of the Nation, is directly in danger due to an alleged redevelopment project. Instead of any other human objectives in the name of development, the misuse of public money is against Gandhi’s principles. The ashram is a proof of symbols of peace, simplicity and stability and the alleged redevelopment threatens to eradicate the essence of Mahatma Gandhi and the ashram.
It has also been said in the petition that Mahatma Gandhi established the Sabarmati Ashram in 1917. On February 2, 1926, Mahatma Gandhi and Maganlal Khushalchand formed the Satyagraha Ashram Trust through trust deed. On September 30, 1933, Gandhi handed over the Satyagraha Ashram to the Harijan Sevak Sangh for the service and benefit of Harijans through a letter addressed by Ghanshyamdas Birla.
After this hearing, the Supreme Court on Tuesday dismissed the petition filed by Mahatma Gandhi’s father Tushar Gandhi against the Sabarmati Ashram redevelopment project. The bench of Justices MM Sundresh and Rajesh Bindal in the Supreme Court said, “The petition is not interested in intervening as there has been a delay of more than two years in filing the petition.”
