The Pahari singer Ajay Chauhan showed 'Highway Horror' in viral songs
The dangers of roadscreen between Paonta Sahib and Shillai received a striking voice in the form of a soulful Hindi song by popular Hill singer Ajay Chauhan. The 5.35 -minute song along with a raw poetic line entitled “Route Hai Old Wala Paonta’s Shillai … Yeh Road Hai Narak Will Show” was released in Paonta Sahib on Tuesday and has since become viral throughout Himachal Pradesh. Chauhan, a native of Shilla Village near Kafota, was very impressed by erosion and substandard construction practices in the highway project. His song not only expresses local suffering, but also offers a visible version of the pain arising from the violation of unprotected walls and basic security criteria. At a time when the National Highways Authority of India faces criticism of infrastructure errors – the collapse of buildings due to uncontrolled excavation in Shimla – this song deepened in the hearts of the residents. Local people suffered losses from long crash hills, dry water resources and fertile soil. The video also contains natural beauty, as well as erosion, explosion and disturbing views of half the way. Chauhan is not back either. His songs take politicians, contractors and officials directly to their apathy and negligence. He questions that the people who are in power will challenge, make the contractors accountable and who will compensate for the delicate ecosystem of the region and the damage to its people. The song describes the journey on the road as a painful experience and echoes in the hearts of thousands of people who use this highway daily and now regard it as a symbol of institutional failure. Through his songs and heartfelt poignant scenes, Chauhan has managed to mount both environmental and emotional trauma in a powerful opposition – a protest that blends with justice as well as a tune.
