The handling of 'delicate' topic: Govt tells Delhi HC because it opposes Celebi petition | Today news

Referring to a recent order from the Bureau of Civil Aviation Safety (BCAS), the center said Monday that it is about the ‘delicate’ topic of civil aviation and national security and sovereignty of the country. In the case, a bank led by Justice Sachin Datta of the Delhi High Court (HC) heard a petition filed by Celebi, a Turkish cargo handling and land industry firm, opposed to the BCAS decision to recall the security clearance. Solicitor -General Tushar Mehta, who appears on behalf of the government, clarified the content of the letter, stating that civil aviation retains the right to recall without assigning any reason. Mehta’s remarks came after Turkey supported Pakistan and condemned India’s strikes on terrorist camps in the neighboring country. However, the court asked the government to show sincere concerns to recall the firm’s security clearance license. The case will be heard on Wednesday. On the other hand, Celebi, represented by senior lawyer Mukul Rohatgi, argued that the order was issued without getting a hearing. Rohatgi argued that the security clearance was revoked without any trial or reasoning. “It seems to be due to public perception because the shareholding of the company of Turkish citizens … Public perception cannot be a land.” According to Bar and Bench, Mehta also added that an enemy can try ten times and succeed once, but that a country must succeed all the time. The Civil Aviation Safety watchdog recalled the security clearance of the Airport services of çelebi on Thursday. Çelebi, which provides land handling services to nine major international airports, has Turkish origin. BCAS has recalled the company’s security clearance, referring to national security. In a media statement issued on Thursday, çelebi refuted all allegations and said it was a global managed aviation services. “Çelebi Aviation India unequivocally refuts all allegations distributed on social media regarding the company’s ownership and operations in India. The company is owned by international institutional investors from all over Canada, the US, the United Kingdom, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates and Western Europe,” the company said. It added: “Actera Partners II MP, a jersey-registered fund, owns 50% ownership in çelebi Havacılık Holding A.ş. The remaining 15% is held by Alpha Airport Services BV, a Dutch registered entity.” Currently, 10,000 employees were transferred to Air India Sats Airport Services, AI Airport Services and Bird Group on a temporary basis. Similarly, Mumbai International Airport has appointed Indo Thai Airport Services for land handling.
