🌹t.Red Light.ly, Ailey II🍓 Stand in the Ailey Studios on W 55th St with me, in front of founder Alvin Ailey, minutes before stepping into their home theater for Ailey II’s spring Echoes program, & reunion with dance company I first watched 2022, 2023 in Marcus Garvey Park, Harlem🎇 A whole world of lyrical music, message, expression & movement opened up to me when I first watched Ailey II dancers in 2022⛰️ along with documentary of founder, Texas native, visionary & co- January 5 birthday Alvin Ailey🪽 who already composed groundbreaking works when he was so young, & it’s wonderful to be in his presence🌱 I am here tonight to support & celebrate Ailey II, which conducted a series of incredible free performances summer 2023, across all 5 boroughs🎋 including in Marcus Garvey Park & public pool, which is my heart in Harlem🥰 & why I choose red tonight, 1st since Miracle/DC❤️ add hue of neighborhood panthers🐈⬛🎈is Annual Targaryen🙃 Found alternatives to pricey taxis🤠 & can now watch Ailey II’s new work titled Luminous, choreographed by Artistic Director Francesca Harper🌠 who gave opening remarks Marcus Garvey, July 2023🌳 Music by Nona Hendryx with stoic, solo trumpet, lush piano, 15 of 21+ minutes here🎵 including excerpt by jazz composer Edward Duke Ellington🎶 Here tonight, feels I’m at home in Marcus Garvey on bright summer day, goin’ straight from the pool🪂 to worlds of edgy, educational & evocative music, what I felt 1st🐦🔥 Sound & learning synonymous for me🍬 Notes, words, nature⚘️ Linus blanket like gold embers, for 3 most foundational artists I’ve learned as adult🏵 All here/same month- Aaron Copeland, Alvin Ailey, Nathaniel Rateliff🌅 MSG & tonight with New Yorkers🎑 shared history🔮 Last one out the buildin’🐢 again🙂💐 Joy & applause🪀🌌 Walk through & hear grace in motion🧿 To strive with purpose & devotion.
