Why did Rana call Sanga Babur to India?
Trending Rana Sanga called Babur to India? Northern India remained a battlefield in the early 16th century. At this time, Rana Sanga of Mewar was the most powerful leader of Rajput Union. He increased his influence to parts of Rajasthan and Malwa. His goal was to defeat Delhi’s sultanate and establish the Rajput power. Rana Sanga invited Babur with the intention of defeating Ibrahim Lodi, who held Delhi’s sultanate. He felt that Babur would return to Vijay to Afghanistan. In 1526, when Timur and Genghis Khan defeated Babur Ibrahim Lodi in the first war of Panipat, Rana Sanga felt he succeeded in his diplomacy. Rana’s intention was to use Babur as a piece against the Lodi dynasty. However, this intention has disappeared before Babur’s growing ambitions. When Babur and Rana Sanga came face to face in 1527 in the battle of Khanwa, it became clear that Rana would now have to bathe Babur to rule the Delhi sultanate. Rana Sanga had 80,000 rajputs and Afghan allies, while Babur had only 15,000 trained soldiers and better artillery. Babur’s military strategy in Middle Asia and the use of gunpowder defeated the Rajput army. Rana Sanga, who was injured in the war, planned the attack again, but died under mysterious circumstances in 1528. His strategic decay not only caused its defeat, but also opened the way for the expansion of the Mughal rich in India. Click here Life & Style Click for more stories Click here
