The timing of eating vitamins may make the difference in the body’s benefit from it – ryan

The timing of eating vitamins and nutritional supplements plays a major role in the extent of the body’s benefit from it, as its absorption varies according to its type and the way it is eaten.

Therefore, it is always recommended to read the guidelines on the dietary supplement package to determine whether it is better to eat it on an empty stomach or with food.

Vitamins and minerals are essential elements to maintain the health of the body, and their lack may lead to multiple health problems.

Although a balanced diet usually provides these elements, some people may need nutritional supplements to fill the deficiency, especially those who have nutritional restrictions, or during pregnancy, or people with certain health conditions.

And when taking vitamins inappropriately, the body may not be able to absorb it as it should, which reduces its effectiveness. For example, it is advised to take soluble vitamins in water, such as vitamin C and the B vitamins group, on an empty stomach in the morning with a cup of water, because eating it in the evening may affect the quality of sleep. This group includes: B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B7, B9, and B12.

On the other hand, the vitamins dissolved in fat, such as A, D, E and K, need to eat with a meal that contains fat to improve its absorption, so it is preferable to eat it after food or with a drink that contains fat such as milk or yogurt, or even with foods with oil.

As for multiple vitamins, they are more complicated, because they contain a mixture of elements that the body may interact with in different ways. Therefore, it is preferable to eat it with food to reduce the possibility of stomach upset or nausea, especially if it contains iron or zinc.

In any case, it is better to consult a doctor before starting to take any dietary supplement, to ensure the maximum benefit and avoid any possible side effects.
