Eknath Shinde is busy with questions about Raj -uddhav Thackeray Patch-Up Buzz: 'Talk about work' | Today news
Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, became upset when a mediagram sought his response to the speculation of reconciliation between alienated cousins Uddhav and Raj Thackeray and asked the reporter to talk about the work of the government instead. While Shinde was in his native Dare Village in the Satara district on Saturday, a TV Marathi reporter asked for his response to the buzz of detention between SHIV Sena (UBT) head UDDHAV Thackeray and Maharashtra Navnirnam SENA (MNS) President Raj Thackeray. Shinde became irritated and rubbed off the reporter’s boom. “Talk about work,” said the leader of the Shiv Sena, who is unknown that he has been in public. The buzz about approach began after Raj Thackeray said in a podcast interview with filmmaker Mahesh Manjrekar-which was recorded weeks ago, but was released on Saturday-that he had no problems when he worked with Uddhav in the undivided Shiv Sena. The question is that Uddhav wants to work with him, he said. Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray have raised speculation about a possible reconciliation with statements indicating that they can ignore ‘trivial issues’ and join a bitter separation of ways almost two decades. While the MNS chief said the union of ‘Marathi Manoos’ was not difficult, the former CM Uddhav Thackeray said he was ready to set aside trivial fights, provided those who work against Maharashtra’s interests were not entertained. Uddhav’s allegation was seen as a veiled reference to the MNS head who recently presented Deputy CM Eknath Shinde at his home. Without mentioning his cousin, Uddhav Thackeray said that nothing should be done to help the ‘thieves’, an apparent reference to the BJP and Shinde-led Sena. Uddhav Thackeray received a major setback in 2022 when Eknath Shinde divided the Shiv Sena and overthrew its government. Shinde then formed the government with BJP’s support. In the past year’s polls at the 288 member state meeting, the Sena (UBT) won only 20 seats from the 95 who disputed it as part of the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi. Raj, cousin of the founder of the late Shiv Sena, Bal Thackeray, left the party in January 2006 and blamed Uddhav for his decision. He then introduced the MNS which initially has a strict Indian stance against North. But after winning 13 seats in the 2009 election, MNS was pressed to the margins. It drew a void in the 2024 levels. First Published: 20 Apr 2025, 11:54 am Ist
