Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis-led Maharashtra government on Thursday made Hindi compulsory as a third language from class 1-5 in marathi and English medium schools in the state according to the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, reports Pti. The Opposition Congress called it the imposition of Hindi. According to details, only marathi and English are taught as compulsory languages of classes 1 to 4 in these schools. The government resolution (GR) issued on Thursday mentions Hindi as a third language will be compulsory from the next academic year of class 1 to 5, and the new curriculum as per NEP will be implemented for Class 1 in 2025-26. The CR, issued by the state government, said, among other things, the policy would be implemented for class 2, 3, 4 and 6 in 2026-27, while the policy for classes 5, 9 and 11, of 2027-28, and implemented for classes 8, 10 and 12, would apply from 2028-29. What did the gr say? Currently, all schools in the state, except those with a marathi and English medium, follow the three-language formula. For such schools, the language of the medium, English and marathi is taught, the gr. In addition, the GR said that the language policy for classes VI will be to X according to the state curriculum. Meanwhile, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis said the state had already implemented the fake. “Marathi has already been made compulsory.
