24 Naxalites surrendered in Bijapur, Chhattisgarh
Bijapur, May 23 (IANS). Police have had great success under the anti -Naxal campaign in the Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh. A total of 24 Naxalites, including 20 Maoists of Rs 87.50 lakhs who were active in the district, surrendered to police and decided to return to the mainstream of society. This incident of surrender is considered an important step towards peace and development in the district. Those convictions include PLGA Company Number-2 Deputy Commander, MOD Divisional Company No-7 PPCM, ACM/PPCM, Los commander, CNM President, KMS President, KKBN Divisional Party member. All of them have long been active in Bijapur, Sukma and surrounding areas. Police superintendent, Dr. Jitendra Kumar Yadav said that these Maoists surrendered by influencing government surrender and rehabilitation. The development works run by the government, such as the construction of roads, electricity and water availability and access to education health services, inspired the Maoists to leave the organization. In addition, increasing differences within the organization and discriminatory behavior by leaders have also forced them to surrender. All the Maoists who surrender received an incentive of Rs 50,000 thousand under the surrender and rehabilitation policy of the government. Since January 1, 2025, 227 Maoists have surrendered in the Bijapur district, while 237 Maoists were arrested and 119 Maoists died. It is clear that the policy of management and the strategy of security forces is effective against naxism. SP Dr. Jitendra Kumar Yadav also called on other Maoists to take advantage of government rehabilitation policy and lead a normal life by returning to the mainstream of society.
