Remake of Jim Carrey Comedy teased by Studio – ryan

One or Jim Carrey‘s best movies have just received a smokin’ Hot Update Courtesy of New Line President and CCO Richard Brener. The Studio Head Hinted that a remake of The mask would Be considered if certain conditions were with. This news is liquid to incite jaw-dropping, eye-popping reactions from fans of the original movie’s titular Green Trickster, as many have hoped to see an r-rated take on the 1994 comedy, drawing more goney goodness from its source material and purposing a more comic-accurate Version of the story into the Mainstream.
During a recent interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Brener was asked Outright whether New Line, the distributor of the original big-screen Carrey Classic, would ever be interested in a remake of The mask. He suggested that it could happen, but there would be a few important stipulations for the project to get the green light. The requirements he outlined include getting “the right filmmakers” and “the right talent” to work on it, but under those circumstances, he says, “Yes. It’s a great idea for a movie.”

The Mask: Why the Jim Carrey Movie Deserves a reboot Closer to the Gory Comics
The classic Jim Carrey Movie the Mask is one of the few movies that could actually benefit from a reboot, and here’s why.
Directed by Chuck Russell, The mask Is very loosely based on the comic Book’s central figures, Stanley Ipkiss. The movie version of the character, played by Carrey, has his world turned upside down when he discovers a magical mask that transforms him from the soft-spoken nice guy into a green-faced menace of mischief. His newfound confidence and swagger, brought about by his alter-ego, catches the eye of local nightclub Singer Tina Carlyle (Cameron Diaz), but Things Only Out of Control from There As He Finds Himself The Target of The Villainous Dorian Tyrant (Peter Green) and His Loyalal Band or henchmen.
Did ‘the mask’ ever get a sequel?
While The mask May not have been the r-rated take that people had hoped for, there were a lot of things that the adaptation got right-evidenced by its commercial and critical success. The Movie Managed to turn a $ 23 million budget into $ 350 million at the worldwide box office and earned an 80% approval rating on rotten tomatoes, so it was not a surprise when a sequel was announced. However, the original plans fell through, which led to the 2005 follow-up Sun of the mask Being made without the involvement of Carrey or Diaz. It was a box office flop and panned by critics, promotion the franchise to be put on hold indefinite.
Despite more than 30 years having passed since the release of The maskthe zany comedy is still proving popular with audiences and recently became a streaming hit on paramount+, so there is certainly still enough interest in a potential sequel, should someone want to make one. Carrey has also shown a Willingness to return for another installment in the franchise (though he resisted saying “somebody stop me”), and Diaz confirmed earlier this year that she would consider coming back “If Jim’s on Board.” Now it’s just a case of whether anyone want to give ipkiss the kiss of life.
