Relief of heatwave: IMD predicts cloudy air, rain and thunderstorms expected in the coming days | See complete prediction | Today news
Delhi IMD update: A change in the weather of Delhi is on the horizon, as the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted cloudy air, rain and thunderstorms for the capital in the coming days. After sustained heat -wave -like conditions, Delhiites can expect from mid -week. Delhi recorded a maximum temperature of 40.4 degrees Celsius on Monday, which is 1.4 degrees above the average of the season. According to the IMD, the air is expected to be partly cloudy by Tuesday, with possibilities of thunder developments until the evening until Wednesday. Thunderstorms with rain are probably on Thursday and Friday, which may cool the city. The forecast of the IMD also mentions a marginal drop in the daytime temperatures, aided by winds blowing at a speed of 15-20 km / h. A yellow warning was issued for Tuesday and again for Friday and Saturday, and warning of light drop in parts of the National Capital Region (NCR) and windy winds up to 50 km / h. “We had clear air over the past few days, which made the days warmer and also raised the temperature of the night,” an IMD official said. “However, the upcoming cloud cover, together with vog-laden eastern winds, is expected to lower the maximum temperature by about 1-2 degrees Celsius.” He added that some relief could come in Tuesday, with isolated drop and winds providing a noticeable cooling effect. The minimum temperature recorded on Monday was 23.2 degrees Celsius, which is slightly below normal with 0.6 degrees. Relative humidity during the day ranged between 32% and 43%, which is an indication of relatively dry conditions that contributed to the heat. If he looks forward, the IMD expects the maximum temperature to hang about 39 degrees Celsius and the next few days are about 25 degrees Celsius. The approaching change comes as a much -needed break for Delhi residents, who are struggling with intense day heat and little at night. The refreshing game of rain and thunderstorms, if realized as predicted, should not only cool the air, but also temporarily improve the air quality – another bonus for a city that is often polluted. Delhiites can eventually look forward to a few cloudy air and a touch of cool breeze after days of relentless heat. First published: 28 Apr 2025, 22:50 IST
