Reduction in the number of beneficiaries of social security in Haryana budget

Senior congressional and former finance minister Sampat Singh has accused the state government of reducing the number of social security beneficiaries instead of increasing monthly pension and honorarium in the 2025-26 budget. In a statement here today, he claims that the age of 36,46,742 to 35,96,944 dropped by 36,46,742 by March 25, along with pension, as well as widows, needy women, children and disabled people. He said that the pension amount was increased annually from 2014 to 2019. However, there is no such provision in the current budget. He demanded that pension and financial assistance be increased by at least Rs 1,000 per month, in light of the increasing inflation. Sampat Singh talked about the issue of scholarship, saying that the students of economically weaker divisions, including OBC, EBC and DNT categories, despite the budget supply of Rs 114.25 Crore under Premier Yashasvi and PM-Ajay schemes, students of economically weaker sections, including OBC-, DNT categories, no scholarships received. In addition, he said that despite the award of a total of Rs 38.40 crore for scholarship and financial assistance to scheduled caste students, Rs 38 crore was not released among Pradhan Mantri-scheduled role players Abhyudaya Yojana (PM-AJay). Singh also expressed concern about the low use of funds prescribed for housing and residential reforms. While Rs 200 crore was assigned for dr. Br Ambedkar Residential Renewal Scheme, only Rs 15 crore was spent. He requested to immediately issue the remaining amount to benefit the targeted students. Share this story -tags
