Question to change the name 'Sultanganj' to 'Ajgabinath Dham' gets people widespread support
Bhagalpur, June 28 (IANS). The demand to change the name of Sultanganj, the famous Pilgrim Center in the Bhagalpur district Bihar to ‘Ajgabinath Dham’, has now gained momentum. The support of local public representatives, saints, citizens and business people is constantly increasing on this question. Last year, this resolution was unanimously approved at the General Council meeting of the Sultanganj Municipal Council on June 19 and sent to the Bihar government and the main minister. There is also a deep religious and historical reference behind this claim to change the name. It is believed that it is the land from which the story of the rebirth of the Ganges begins. When King Bhagiratha tried to save his ancestors by bringing Ganga from heaven to earth, the Ganges stream resolved the fine of Jahnavi Muni. Angry Muni covered Ganga in his Kamandal, then on Bhagiratha’s prayer, he left the Ganges. Since then, Ganga has also been given the name ‘Jahnavi’. Ajgabinath Mahadev -Temple is located in this place, where the statue of Shiva is still honored with a bow and bow. This sacred terrain is located on the banks of the Ganges and in the month of Shravan millions of Shiva devices come here and take a dent. Deputy Chief Minister of the Bihar government Samrat Chaudhary also made statements in support of changing this name. He said that this holy city, on the banks of the Ganges, is known in ancient times as “Ajgabinath Dham”. This was called sultanganj in the mughal period, which must change again. The ward councilor of the City Council Krishna Kumar first raised his voice on this issue and said it is a religious place, it should be called ‘Ajgabinath Dham’, not sultanganj. We passed the proposal and sent it to the state government. Now the department should seriously consider it. Mahant and chief priest of Ajgabinath Temple Premanand Giri said in a special conversation with the news agency that over the past four years we have tried to call this sacred terrain again “Ajgabinath Dham”. Now this question has taken on the form of a movement. The city council sent the proposal and about 50 percent of the process was completed. The remaining will also be completed soon. People have now started writing “Ajgabinath Dham” about the banners of their stores and homes. We also pray to baby that this work should be done. Local Kanwar seller Vinod Dubey also supported the name change and said that the place of Northwahini Ganga and Ajgabinath Mahadev is very sacred here. Millions of dedicates from all over the country and abroad come here. After bathing in the Ganges, dedicated to Doghar leaves and sings the slogan of the bulb bom. The name of such a sacred place should not remain ‘sultanganj’, but it should be called ‘Ajgabinath Dham’. People believe that the names of many religious places were changed during the mughal period. Now that the process of name change in various states of the Land- Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana takes place, justice must be done with this ancient pilgrimage of Bihar. The demand to change the name of Sultanganj to Ajgabinath Dham is not only a religious sentiment, but has become a social and cultural movement. The proposal of the City Council is with the state government and as this process progresses, it will be a historical step to revive Bihar’s religious heritage. -Ians psk/gkt
