Punjab police have arrested two people on charges of leaking sensitive information of armed forces

Chandigarh, May 19 (IANS). Punjab police have arrested two people associated with the important information related to the Indian Armed Forces in a major anti-species campaign for leaking Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). This information was given on Monday by the Director General of the Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav. Those arrested were identified as Sukhpreet Singh and Karanbir Singh, Gurdaspur residents. Police also received three cell phones and eight cartridges of 0.30 drilling from his possession. DGP Yadav said police in Gurdaspur failed to compromise on national security by arresting these two people. He shared sensitive military information related to ‘Operation Sindoor’ with his ISI handlers, including army movement and major strategic locations in Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. He said the preliminary investigation confirmed that the two accused were in direct contact with the ISI operatives and broadcast important information regarding the Indian military. The DGP once again said that Punjab police are firmly with the Indian army. He said that any attempt to weaken the safety of the armed forces would be strong and respond immediately. He said further investigation in this case is expected to make more revelations. Aditya, senior superintendent of the Gurdaspur, shared the details of the operation that reliable intelligence information on May 15 indicated that the alleged Sukhpreet Singh and Karanbir Singh were sharing confidential information relating to Defense with ISI operators. He said police acted quickly and both monitored and arrested the suspects. He said intelligence information was confirmed by the forensic examination of his cellphone. He said preliminary investigation revealed that the accused promoted military secrets instead of financial benefits. Police senior superintendent said: “During the investigation, it was also revealed that he had been involved in drug smuggling activities earlier, through which he came into contact with ISI operators.
