President Drupadi Murmu: Example of struggle, service and simplicity

New -Delhi, June 19 (IANS). The country’s first tribal woman president Draupadi Murmu celebrates her birthday on June 20. This day is not just a special day of his life, but it has also become a symbol of the appearance, inclusion and social change of the democracy of India. Draupadi Murmu, who left an ordinary tribal family to Rashtrapati Bhavan, is an example of struggle, service and determination. Draupadi Murmu was born on June 20, 1958 in Upperbanda, a small town in the Mayurbhanj district of Odisha. She belongs to the Santhal tribe. His father Biranchi Narayan was the head of the Tudu town and was associated with the Panchayati Raj system. In childhood, he saw what social and economic challenges the Tribal Society struggled with. He received his early education at local schools and then graduated from Ramdevi Women’s College in Bhubaneswar. He was the dedication of education that gave him a strong platform. Draupadi Murmu started her career as a teacher. He served as a honorary teacher at the Sri Aurobindo Integral Education Center, Riyangpur under the Odisha government. She was later also junior assistant in the Department of Irrigation and Energy, the state of Odisha. This period was a struggling phase of his life, in which he met the family and social obligations on the other. Draupadi Murmu entered politics in 1997. She becomes a councilor of Riyangpur Nagar Panchayat of BJP. His political life began from here. He soon made his mark in the party because of his work style, honesty and passion. In the year 2000, when a coalition government of BJP and Biju Janata Dal (BJD) was founded in Odisha, they were made the Minister of State (independent charge). He served as pastor in the Department of Trade and Transport and later in the Department of Fisheries and Animal School. During this, he launched several schemes for the development of tribal and rural areas. Draupadi Murmu’s personal life was full of extreme struggle. She lost her husband Shyam Charan Murmu due to a serious illness. After this, he also lost two of his sons at a young age, which is extremely painful for any mother. These tragedies made them stronger than breaking them. He did not leave the path of social service and endured every pain of life. It was the spiritual fortune that gave him the power to restore again and again. Draupadi Murmu was appointed as the first female governor of Jharkhand in 2015. Together with this, she also became the first tribal governor of Jharkhand. He has completed a term of over six years, which is an important achievement for any governor. As the governor, he has made strong and independent decisions to the dignity of the Constitution many times. He spoke strongly about particularly sensitive tribal issues and protect the rights of the people who stand on the marginalized of society. When the turn of the presidential election took place in 2022, the Bharatiya Janata party and the NDA Alliance Draupadi Murmu nominated as the presidential candidate. This decision was historic because it was the first time a tribal woman was nominated for the country’s highest constitutional post. Yashwant Sinha was a candidate from the opposition, but Draupadi Murmu won with a big voice. She was sworn in as the 15th president of India on July 25, 2022 and also became the first tribal woman president of India. Even after becoming president, there was no decrease in the simplicity, ease and sensitivity of Drupadi Murmu. She was constantly talking about the interests of deprived parts of society, especially tribal communities, women and children.
