Pakistan drowned in debt but the safe of leaders fill: 500 percent increase

Islamabad, June 7 (IANS). Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, who faces financial crisis and inflation, made another shocking decision. According to local media reports, the salary of the National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq and the chairman of Senate Yusuf Raza Geelani was increased by 500 percent. Now both get the top -constitutional officials each month 13 Lakh Pakistani Rupees salary, while this amount was only 2.05 lakh calls earlier. This increase will be in effect from 1 January 2025. In the last few months, the Sharif government has increased the salary of ministers, advisors, MPs and now speakers and chairman. In March, the salary of cabinet ministers, state ministers and advisors increased by 188 percent. At the same time, a monthly salary of Rs 5.19 lakh for MPs and senators was approved. All this happens when the economy of Pakistan is plagued by debt, political instability, unemployment, inflation and fuel and electricity tariffs. While the general public is advised to be ready, the government is increasing its own expenses. A local Islamabad resident, who criticizes the Sharif government, said: “First these people talk about leverage and simplicity, then they themselves increase the number of cabinet ministers and also bring their salary to the air. Explain that when the Sharif government was in power, there were only 21 members in the cabinet, who were now increased to 51 members. In the midst of the weakened economic situation of the country, this increase looks like sprinkling salt on the wounds of the general public. Critics say that if this is the way of ‘economic reform’, then Pakistan can take a long time to overcome problems. -Ians DSC/EKD shares this story -tags
