your guide to choosing optimal sleep – ryan

Dr. Natalia Zolotariova, a cardiologist, revealed that sleep exceeds a means of rest, as it is an integrated science that directly affects human health, from digestion, breathing to the freshness of the skin, and stressed that the sleeping position plays a major role in this.

According to Zulotariva, sleeping on the left side is the best choice for digestion, as the stomach falls in this direction, which helps gravity to facilitate the passage of food and reduce the possibility of infection with the burning stomach and acid reflux, while sleeping on the right side may increase these problems.

But sleeping on one side also has its negative aspects, as the doctor explains, as the constant pressure on the shoulder or hip can lead to a feeling of numbness, and the friction of the face with the pillow may cause the appearance of what is known as “sleep wrinkles”, which are lines that appear over time, and it is recommended to use a medium hardening pillow, and the cover of silk and cushions to reduce friction.

As for sleeping on the back, it indicates that it is the perfect situation in terms of maintaining the health of the spine and skin, as the body is in a neutral position that reduces pressure from the neck and the lower back, and the face does not touch the pillow, which reduces the possibility of wrinkles.

However, this position is not suitable for everyone, as it may lead to snoring or sleep breathing as a result of sliding the tongue towards the throat, and it is recommended to raise the level of the head or choose sleep on the side to reduce these risks.

With regard to sleeping on the abdomen, the physician is the worst ever, as it causes pressure on the neck as a result of the head to the head, and impedes deep breathing due to the pressure on the rib cage.

The face contact with the pillow all night increases the possibility of wrinkles, swelling, and even rashes. It is advised, for those who are difficult for them to abandon this position, using a thin pillow or dispensing it completely to reduce the pressure on the neck.

Zolotaria concludes her speech by emphasizing that there is no “ideal” sleeping position suitable for everyone. Everyone has his health and special circumstances, and the important thing is to choose what he feels comfortable without neglecting the impact of the situation on his general health.
