2023 OLIVIER AWARD WINNERS: Broadway-bound prima facie, my neighbor Totoro, Oklahoma! Win big
London’s Top Theater -Views, the Oliviers, was distributed in Royal Albert Hall on April 2, with My neighbor Totoro reigned from the supreme. The evening was hosted by the stage and screen Hannah Waddingham.
My neighbor Totoro, The play based on the beloved studio Ghibli film from 1988 took home the most wins of the evening with six awards, including best entertainment or comedy play, and best director for Phelim McDermott.
Okaa Oklahoma! won the best musical revival, proposed by American artists as it was the West End transfer of the 2019 Broadway Revival, directed by Daniel Fish. Arthur Darvill won the best actor in a musical for his work in Okaa Oklahoma!
Tennessee Williams’ A street wagon named Desire was honored with the best revival, and the guidance of Paul Meshal and Anjana Vasan won for the best actor and best actress in a supporting role respectively.
Best new game has been awarded to First facie, and Broadway-bound Deathing Eva star Jodie comer won the best actress for her performance in the play, a role she will surprise In the Broadway transferto start April 11.
Standing at the edge of the sky was crowned as the best new musical, with Richard Hawley and Tom Deering Win for the best original score or new orchestrations. The new musical contains music and lyrics by Hawley, former Pulp and Lung Pigs guitarist.
