Not amla but no less, 'star gujberry' full of health and taste
New -Delhi, April 29 (IANS). Amla-like Fruitstestar Gujberry, also known as Sarfari, Nellicai or Psychomy in different parts of the country. Its taste is unique as well as wonderful. The taste of star gujberry is sour, sharp and light. Everyone likes it from child to elder. It can be eaten raw by spraying salt or sugar. Many people add lemon juice, chilli or roasted masala and improve the taste even more. Cut the slices and pack them in sugar and keep them for a few days, a natural syrup is formed that also gives the health of taste. When ripe, the color becomes dark red, making it suitable for use in jam, marmalade, jelly, chutney and spikel. In the South India it is replaced in kitchen instead of Tamarind, especially with coconut and root in the traditional Nellicai Sadham. The chutney made with quark, green chilli and ginger looks incredible with rice or breakfast. Star Gujberry doesn’t just taste, it also gives health.
