Yogi government will expand the 'crisis' one stop center of women
Lucknow, April 9 (IANS). Another important step was taken for the safety and empowerment of women in the state led by the Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath. The Yogi government, which runs step by step with the central government, will set 17 new units in the state and expand the ‘One Stop Center’ scheme. This is an important step of the Yogi government to provide immediate help and overall support to women suffering from violence. This expansion was done to keep in mind the large population of the state so that help to the distressed women can be assured. The ‘One Stop Center’ scheme started under 100 percent funding from the central government in the financial year 2015-16. The scheme, which is looking for land in UP in the first years, gained momentum after 2017 led by CM Yogi. The Department of Women and Child Development operates it effectively in the state. Under this scheme, all essential services such as migration, medical assistance, counseling, legal aid and police assistance are provided in one place to the victims of violence. At present, 79 ‘One Stop Centers’ operates in 75 districts of the state, which has so far helped women and girls in more than 2.10 lakh cases. These centers play the role of ‘problem solver’ for women, which not only provides them with relief immediately, but also helps them with their rehabilitation and social integration. The Government of India has approved the establishment of 17 additional ‘one stop center’ in light of the large population and increasing needs of Uttar Pradesh. This includes 2 in Lucknow, 2 in Varanasi, 2 in Prayagraj and 2 in Lakhimpur Kheri. In addition, one new center will be opened in Bareilly, Kanpur Nagar, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Meerut, Gorakhpur, Saharanpur, Jhansi, Agra and Bijnor. The process of establishing these centers is moving quickly, so needy women can get quick benefits. In addition, a vehicle has been arranged for emergency services since February 2025 at each ‘One Stop Center’, which seems to be useful to help the victims quickly. The success of ‘One Stop Center’ is clearly visible in its numbers. In the past ten years, more than 2.10 lakh cases have been referred to, in which thousands of women and girls have new lives. This number will increase further with new units, especially in areas where there was another lack of this facility. The vehicle arrangement will improve the reaction time in the emergency, which will strengthen the safety of women. Attempts to strengthen the ‘One Stop Center’ scheme led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath continue. -Ians SK/ABM
