Eels winger Bailey Simonsson is in the mix for his first NRL game since last May after Zac Lomax was ruled out of Saturday’s clash against the Raiders with a broken foot.

The representative star is facing a six-week recovery period, opening the door for Simonsson to complete his comeback from an ACL rupture.

Elsewhere, star Panthers fullback Dylan Edwards is on track to return from a groin strain, while forward Scott Sorensen has declared he is fit after progressing through the concussion protocols. Penrith will be without Mitch Kenny and Jack Cole for the clash with the Dolphins.

Jason Saab is set to line up for the Sea Eagles, despite suffering an ankle sprain last weekend, while teammates Lachlan Croker and Tommy Talau are a chance of returning from injury a week earlier than initially expected.

Dolphins: A major boost for Kristian Woolf’s men, with skipper Tom Gilbert set to make his return from a suspension. In less positive news, Ray Stone has been handed a week off by the match review committee. The changes will see a forward pack reshuffle, with Gilbert starting in the second row, Max Plath moving to lock, Felise Kaufusi to prop and Mark Nicholls to the bench.

Panthers: Dylan Edwards and Scott Sorensen are on track to return from injury in a major boost for the struggling premiers. Blaize Talagi will wear the No.6 jumper for the first time this year with Jack Cole placed in the concussion protocols, while hooker Luke Sommerton is set for his sixth career match as Mitch Kenny’s replacement.

Dragons: Coach Shane Flanagan is expected to stick with the same 17 that fell to the Eels in golden point last week, with Kyle Flanagan and Lachlan Ilias again named in the halves and David Klemmer set to start at prop. Youngsters Lyhkan King-Togia, Loko Pasifiki Tonga and Sione Finau are in the extended squad should Flanagan opt for a late change.

Titans: Moeaki Fotuaika will captain the Titans for the third time after Tino Fa’asuamaleaui was suspended. Hooker Sam Verrills has been cleared to return from a hip injury with Chris Randall to move from hooker to lock to replace Fa’asuamaleaui. While named to return this week after missing last week’s game with a corked thigh, coach Des Hasler said on Wednesday that Jojo Fifita was “struggling” and was unlikely to return. While he was yet to confirm how he would adjust the line-up, the winger’s absence last week saw Phil Sami move to wing, Beau Fermor to centre and David Fifita to the starting line-up.

Roosters: Outside back Mark Nawaqanitawase will be given every chance to prove his fitness and remains in the extended squad as he recovers from a calf injury. Young gun Hugo Savala has been handed the keys at halfback after veteran Chad Townsend was axed following a disappointing start to the season. Victor Radley is on track to line up at lock in his return from a cheekbone injury, with Nat Butcher shifting to prop to replace the injured Lindsay Collins.

Rabbitohs: Latrell Mitchell will captain South Sydney for the fourth time in his career and line up at five-eighth after injuries ravaged the Rabbitohs. Jayden Sullivan joins Mitchell in the halves, with Alex Johnston returning from a rib injury to fill the void left by Mikaele Ravalawa. Euan Aitken is set to play his first game of the season after recovering from a pectoral injury.

Cowboys: Reuben Cotter has trained throughout the week and has successfully overcome the illness that kept him out of last Friday’s win over Penrith. The co-captain’s return will see Sam McIntyre revert to the bench and Harrison Edwards shift to 18th man.

Eels: Bailey Simonsson is in line to play his first NRL game since rupturing his ACL in Round 13 last year after Zac Lomax fractured his foot. The winger has spent the past three weeks in NSW Cup, successfully building up his fitness. Young gun Joash Papalii is 18th man and another option to replace Lomax.

Raiders: The Raiders look set to field an unchanged side in Darwin on Saturday night after coach Ricky Stuart stuck with the same squad that defeated the Sharks last week. Veteran prop Josh Papalii is named to start but may slide to the bench on game day as he did last week.

Storm: Will Warbrick and Nelson Asofa-Solomona remain at least a week away as they work their way through the concussion protocols, with Moses Leo set for his second NRL match in the centres. Xavier Coates and Ryan Papenhuyzen are on track to start despite leaving last week’s win over Manly early with minor niggles. The Storm have won their last 16 games against the Warriors.

Warriors: Rocco Berry is set to return from a hamstring injury in the centres, with Adam Pompey shifting to the wing and Ed Kosi dropping back to the reserves. Berry was set to make his comeback from a shoulder injury in Round 4 clash but was then ruled out with a minor hamstring strain. Forward Erin Clark plays his 100th NRL match.

Tyrone Thompson and Matt Arthur are set to make their club debuts off the bench

Wests Tigers: Jarome Luai has overcome a shoulder injury and is set to make his return from suspension for Sunday’s clash with the Knights, with Latu Fainu to miss the match with a thumb injury.
