Bello, 42, of Odo-Aba Street, and Adeleke (70), whose address remains unknown, are facing four charges: conspiracy, possession of a human head, interference with the dead and violating public peace. Two men, Ridwan Bello and Fataai Adeleke, were arrested in front of a Magistrate’s Court in Iyaganku for the alleged illegal possession of a human head and other body parts of a female body. Bello, 42, of Odo-Aba Street, and Adeleke (70), whose address remains unknown, are facing four charges: conspiracy, possession of a human head, interference with the dead and violating public peace. According to the prosecutor, Asp Folke Adedosu, the suspects, together with others, still have a conspiracy to commit the crimes. On March 18, around 3am in the Muslim area in Ibadan, Bello was allegedly found in possession of a human head and body parts identified as those of the late Mrs. Adebimpe Akinbo. “A female human head, cut limbs, dried bones and other remnants stored in bags and a paint bucket was recovered from Bello’s house,” Adedosu told the court. Investigations revealed that Bello allegedly succeeded Akinbo’s remains of the Saint Andrews Anglican Church Cemetery in Awa-Ijebu, Ogun State, for ritual purposes. Adeleke is accused of consciously buying the human parts of Bello for similar purposes. Nigeria’s news agency reports that the prosecutor added that their actions disrupted public peace and that sections 242 (1) (b), 249 (d), 329a and 516 of the Oyo State Criminal Code Laws, 2000. Both defendants pleaded not guilty. Magistrate at Oyediji granted their bail on N500,000 each, with two bails in the same sum. However, the case was adjourned until May 8 for further trial.
