Nhai set a record of 5.614 km of freeways in FY 2025. Capital expenses reached Rs 2.5 Lakh Crore
New -Delhi, April 2 (IANS). According to the data released on Wednesday by the Ministry of Transport and Highways, the National Highways Authority of India (Nhai) has built 5.614 km national highways in FY 2025, which made great progress in developing the country’s highway infrastructure, which was more than the target of 5,150 km. This achievement reflects the government’s commitment to improve road connection in India. According to the ministry, Nhai also recorded its highest capital expenditure in a financial year. The total highway development expenses in FY 2024-25 exceeded Rs 2,50,000 crore (for the time), which is more than a target of R 2,40,000 crore. This includes both the government’s budget assistance and its resources of Nhai. FY 2023-24 had an increase of about 21 percent in expenses compared to R 2,07,000 crore spent. This increase was even more important than the financial year 2022-23, which was 45 percent more than Rs 1.73,000 crore. To raise funds, NHAI uses three different methods toll over leadership (Tot), Infrastructure Investment Trust (Invit) and tolls. Through these monetization efforts, NHAI increased Rs 28.724 crore in FY 2024-25. An important milestone was the highest invitation for single round of Rs 17.738 crore to date. Nhai still focuses on the construction of highways of the world class, which plays an important role in the economic growth of India. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has reiterated that this infrastructure development will not only strengthen the road network, but also promote the general progress of the country. Meanwhile, Nhai informed last month that its branch, National Highway Infra Trust (NHIT) successfully completed its fourth round of funds by achieving an enterprise value of approximately Rs 18,380 crore. According to an official statement released on March 26, this is the largest monitization agreement in the history of the Road Sector of India. The NHIT was founded in 2020 as the Infrastructure Investment Trust (Invit) to help the government with highway assets. With this latest transaction, the total price increased in all four rounds crossed Rs 46,000 crore. -Ians skt/gkt
