Tom Schwartz suggested in the season 2 premiere of The Valley that Jax Taylor seek professional help following a violent altercation with his estranged wife Brittany Cartwright. In the April 22 episode, it looks like Taylor, 45, took 42-year-old Schwartz’s advice.
“There’s a lot of issues,” Jax tells Danny Booko and Jason Caperna in a PEOPLE exclusive preview from the episode. “I don’t think I’m as bad as they’re making me out to me.”
In a confessional interview, Danny, 41, wonders, “What’s bad to you, man? I mean, you’re throwing furniture. Brittany won’t even let you see your son alone, man. That sounds really bad to me.”
So Danny asks Jax what the “solutions are right now” to improve his life.
“I’m going to this mental hospital or this mental clinic or mental health clinic, this place that I’ve researched a little bit,” Jax tells his friends.

The father of 4-year-old son Cruz claims he needed to wait on an “assessment guy” to take the next steps with going to the mental health facility.
“I’m just getting frustrated,” Jax continues in the preview clip. “A week long of me having this conversation 50 f—— times. I get it. I got it.”
Jason, 41, assures Jax that he and Danny just want the best for him and didn’t mean to anger the Jax’s Studio City owner. “We just don’t want to see you lose everything you’ve worked hard to build,” Caperna said to Taylor.

The Vanderpump Rules alum admits to the cameras that “it’s just tough for me to ask for help.” “But I talked to my sister and she was like, ‘You should go,’” he continued.
In a flashback to the previous week, Jax asks his sister Jenny over FaceTime, “You think going and checking myself into somewhere for a couple days is a good idea?” and she confirms that, yes, that would be a good idea.

Previously, Jax owned up to losing “all control” with Brittany, 36, after he learned she’d been hooking up with and sending sexy messages to his friend Julian following their separation.
“We did say we could hook up with other people, that was part of the deal. But a friend? Come on,” Jax said in the April 15 premiere. “Julian and I were friends. We were hanging out all the time. Meanwhile, she’s still hooking up with him and I had no idea.”

Brittany explained that Jax came across a text exchange between her and Julian on the iPad that their son uses.
“He flipped the coffee table, and it hit my knee. It turned black immediately,” the Kentucky native alleged. “I’m like, ‘Oh my God, oh my God.’ I’m like, screaming, crying. It was terrifying.”
The reality star said Jax’s rage had gotten “so much worse,” and because of that, she didn’t want to let Cruz be around Jax by himself. “He needs to stop partying so hard because those are the worst fights ever, absolute horrible days,” Cartwright continued.

Since then, Jax has spent 30 days in an in-patient treatment facility for mental health and revealed that he has substance issues with cocaine. On the April 17 episode of his In The Mind of a Man podcast, Jax said he’s been going to therapy “for a while now” and has been sober from alcohol and cocaine for 139 days, leaving him with “no interest in drinking or touching drugs again.”
“I thought for sure I was going to have a little bit of a like, how … am I going to be tempted?” he shared. “Because, you know, I still go out a little bit and I still go to restaurants, but I am not tempted at all.”
